| - PART 1: When I first decided to inquire about coolsculpting, I went to coolsculpting.com to find an authorized provider in my area. Anthem Secret Body was listed as a certified practice provider. I went in for my initial consultation to discuss my problem areas and get pricing. They literally draw on you with a washable marker to give you an idea of the fat pockets they will address and to determine roughly how many sessions I needed. I was fine with the marker situation although you don't walk away feeling great having just had your fat examined. It was determined that I would need to start with 6 sessions which would cost me $4,500. As that is a decent amount of money, I wanted to think it over and do additional research on the treatment before I made a final decision. As soon as I walked out of the consultation room I was peppered with their sales pitch to not only buy the 6 sessions but buy additional sessions and services- I should have seen that as a red flag! Their website anthemsecretbody.com states "our staff includes a highly trained team of certified laser technicians with years of experience, medical assistants, with supervision by a plastic surgeon, working together to achieve maximum results. " There was no mention of a plastic surgeon on site to me nor did I see one during the 10ish trips I made to their office. There is NO plastic surgeon on site much less supervising what these technicians are doing. That should have been red flag #2 so shame on me I guess for not walking away after my first visit. To anyone considering coolsculpting, seek the skills of a board certified plastic surgeon; do not waste your money at a med spa. In all honesty, your money is probably better spent on a personal trainer; lose the weight the old fashion way. Not worth it. Ultimately, I decided to try coolsculpting as I was curious to see if it really worked. During my first few treatment visits, both Lee & Jenn continued to try to sale me additional coolsculpting treatments. Jenn would say things like "it works, I promise it works" which annoyed the H*** out of me b/c everyone's bodies react differently to treatments, there is no guarantee that it would work. This was just a sad attempt at trying to get me to buy additional sessions which I politely BUT adamantly declined. I felt like I made that very clear still they tried a few more times until I think they ultimately got the hint that they were not getting any more money out of me. In regards to the actual treatment, I would describe the treatment as uncomfortable and at times downright painful. I had treatments on my stomach and thighs. Two of those times I experienced prolonged sharp stinging pain to my abdominal area which I found to be a normal side effect based on various online reviews and feedback from Lee. The first time I used numbing cream and heat pads to help with the pain which only lasted about 2 days. This second time none of those same remedies seem to help so after a week of pain I considered going to my primary care physician for something stronger b/c when I called Anthem they said use icy/hot type cream which didn't help. I wasn't able to work out during that time and going to work with ice/heat pads wasn't really the outcome I was hoping for. I quickly determined that coolsculpting wasn't for me. Whether it worked or didn't work after these 6 treatments, since I paid $4,500 for them, I wouldn't try any more sessions from Anthem or any other provider. It wasn't worth the pain, time, inconvenience, or money in my opinion. My last treatment was on April 22nd 2017. It is now August 9th and I never received any kind of follow-up from Anthem Secret Body to do "after" pictures or just to check in on my results (no phone calls, no emails, no anything). I waited until now to see if they would reach out and they never did. I think that further speaks to the level of poor customer service you can expect to receive from this med spa. To further add to my disappointment, it is going on four months since my last treatment and I cannot tell any difference to the treated areas. I've stepped up my workouts and have been eating cleaner which has helped but the fat is still very much there. I'm 5'4" and about 20 lbs. overweight. I'm by no means a large person so maybe I'm not an ideal candidate for coolsculpting... this I learned the hard way. Either way, I wanted to share my coolsculpting treatment experience with others who might be considering coolsculpting but more importantly my feedback on the poor customer service received at Anthem Secret Body. My major pain point with Anthem is the lack of personalized service but largely the awful sales pitch that they continued to thrust upon me along with the promise that their treatments work. Again, they cannot guarantee much less promise that the coolsculpting will work, results vary from person to person so do not buy into their gimmicks.
