  • I been wanting to write a review after checking out Luv-It a few times, since it was highly recommended by one of our Pastry Chef that I work with. Plus I love ice cream, and have been known to eat pints of it each day in my youth (thanks mom and dad for all the Häagen-Dazs ice cream I ate, which probably could have paid for at least a year of college at UCSB). On my first visit, not knowing what to get I ordered one of their Specials (Western: hot fudge, caramel, pecans) with the vanilla flavor frozen custard (didn't notice any boost in sex drive from the vanilla, I guess I didn't eat enough and proximity to OG didn't enhance the side effect). Maybe it was the toppings getting in the way of sampling the frozen custard or the selection of the vanilla flavor frozen custard, but I really can't say that it was a superior frozen dessert treat experience that I was hoping for. And it really didn't live up to the high expectations that I came with to this established hole-in-the-wall operation. The owner and the frozen custard man himself was the one who served it, so that was a plus. And it was rather warm out, so it did hit the spot in terms of cold refreshing treat. On my latest visit, which was after the UYE Satay Happy Hour event, I tried the orange and lime flavor custard. I think it was better than my very first experience, but still not a WOW experience. I think I am just not a frozen custard kinda guy. I do love gelatos (the ones I have in Italy were just so awesome, and I mostly ordered the lemon flavor). But 8-10 uniformed and plain clothed police officers enjoying a cold snack on their break can't be wrong. Anyway, I will give it a 3 stars rating. It was good, but not really all that for me personally, and I really think it is just a matter of personal taste rather than the quality of the product served here. If I am in the area, I might stop by and get something, but I really don't think I would get crazing for it and decides to drive across town in the heat for their frozen treat. And for out of towners thinking about checking out this business that has been around since 1973, it is located iwithin walking distance of the Stratosphere. Not really near the Strip, but it is something different to try and maybe you will "Try It...You'll Luv-It".
