  • Kim, a supervisor at this vet clinic, needs to go. I really enjoyed my experience and interaction the first time here. Not so much this time around. I needed to make an appointment for a health certificate before taking my dog back to Hawaii. He's from Hawaii and went through all the steps before leaving to make sure it wouldn't be a hassle to bring him back. Additionally I've worked closely with the Animal Quarantine Station for years helping people ship their pets to/from the islands. Kylie set an appointment for me when I initially called. She then called back later saying there would be a $125 administrative fee for "research" that needs to be done plus $99 for the health certificate. When I let her know that research wouldn't need to be done, I know what's needed and have everything printed out for reference- would that "research" fee still be required? She said she needed to ask her supervisor. Kim came on the phone stating Kylie is still in training and she can help. Kim went on to say that the $125 fee is required regardless because they are very thorough as special things are required going into Hawaii and they don't want any hiccups. I explained to her my situation with my dog being from there, already having his rabies vaccinations, paperwork in order, that I just needed a health certificate and that I have all the requirements printed out. After explaining this, I asked her what would be the need for a research/admin fee being that no research would be required. She continued on about how thorough they are and its required. I let her know there are a lot of vet clinics which are extremely thorough and don't gouge people unnecessarily. She said she doesn't think it's gouging and then kept repeating how thorough they are. Well, if that's the case and they've done this so many times and are well-versed, what research is needed at this point?? My vets back home didn't rip people off and Hawaii is expected to be pricier than the states. Due to Kim's lack of competence in being able to explain the fee and her lack of service skills, I'd be hard pressed to give this place business. Disappointing that one person sours the whole experience because the rest of the staff I've encountered have been great.
