  • Overall, I was disappointed with my experience with Schaffer's although the dress search turned out to be a positive one. I found a beautiful Maggie Sottero dress and the salesperson was very helpful and attentive. The dress ordered fit well. However, once the dress was purchased, the staff was rude and unattentive. At my first dress fitting, a staff member would not help me into my dress. When I asked her the approximate cost of my alterations, she said it would be approximately $200. Once I met with the seamstress and she pinned my dress, she brought to my attention that alterations would cost over $700, even though there were few alterations. Given time constraints, I chose to pay for the alterations rather than go elsewhere. The seamstress was rude and would not listen to my complaints of discomfort in the dress until I proved that the dress was not placed on me correctly. I recommend finding a dress at Schaffer's but would advise to be aware of the alteration costs and consider getting them elsewhere.
