| - This place is simply awesome. I'm no stranger to tanning (although I'm not a die-hard Oompa-Loompa wannabe either) and have seen my fair share of businesses that range from cheap and seedy to over-the-top expensive and ultra fancy. This place combines the best of all worlds: Super clean, luxurious, well-maintained, wide variety of beds, helpful staff: All at rates you can afford.
I signed up back in September and actually got to meet the owner/head manager. He's a super friendly and very knowledgable guy who wore a cowboy hat and sported a tan I can only dream of achieving one day. Having come from a tanning place back in Washington where I found out they purchased used bulbs and rarely changed them, I was hesitant to join another tanning salon that might turn out to be total crap. This guy really helped ease my mind. They have five levels of beds, a fantastic selection of tanning lotions (they even carry some of the Devoted Creations line!!), and a kids playroom.
As of today, here are the packages they offer: $18.88/mo for unlimited use of level one beds; $28.88/mo for unlimited use of level one and two beds; $58.88 for 30 days of level one and two beds to try it and see if you like it, and $88.88/mo for unlimited use of all levels of beds. You are also provided a free pair of tanning goggles that are yours to keep upon joining (if you lose them, you can purchase another pair for $6 or so). There are no signing fees or minimum commitment clauses either.
If you're not on the $88.88 monthly plan, you can also buy upgrades to any of the higher levels of beds. You can either purchase the upgrade outright for a steep price (an upgrade to a level 5 bed will run you $14) or save yourself some money by buying an upgrade package. The packages run in increments of $25, $50, $100, or $200. The higher price of the package, the steeper the upgrade discount. A level 5 upgrade on the $200 package runs only $7, and is then deducted from your $200.
They obviously take excellent care of their salon, because it always looks pristine and clean. They make sure to regularly change the bulbs - they're never burnt out or old, and as a result, my ghost-white Irish skin has marvelously turned a rich golden brown - without any help from bronzing lotions.
Of course, I do have a couple of beefs. For the life of me, I cannot figure out how to work the stupid stereos/cd players in the rooms. Couple this with the fact that you only get 5 minutes to take off your clothes, slather on lotion, tuck your hair into a Tannie Cap and throw your goggles on...I have no time left to really fiddle with figuring the thing out. Which makes for a really boring and quiet 20 minutes. Their lotion prices are also quite a bit steeper than other salons I've been to, and they very rarely offer any kind of specials or discounts (I understand this is how salons make their money though, so I ultimately suck it up and pass over my credit card). My last gripe is that they are no longer open on Sundays, which was one of my main days to go.
But honestly, these are very small things, and the pros of this places more than compensate.
