| - You know how they say some foods can evoke memories/feelings/nostalgia? Well when I'm craving Korean food and missing the time when I studied abroad in Seoul back in college, I come here. This place is half Hawaiian & half Korean, and I think it's obvious that I usually come for the Korean side of it. I can only speak for the Korean food, but one day, I'll probably try the Hawaiian food side.
First off, they have water, hot barley tea, and cold barley tea free of charge. There's also the same banchan every time. The slightly salty boiled peanuts to start, kimchi, bean sprouts, etc.
We usually get the jjajangmyun (black bean noodles) and the yookjaejang (hot & spicy beef soup). This last time, we also got the half order of steamed mandu/dumplings to go with it.
The black bean noodles come with the classic onion, pickled radishes, and black bean sauce. The sauce is perfectly sweet, thick, and savory while the noodles are cooked well with some bite to them. It really brings back some fond memories for me, so I'm always down for a big bowl of warm, homey noodles.
The yookjaejang is probably the best I've had so far in Vegas. The portion is enormous, but I'm almost certain it's for 3-4 people. It comes with rice on the side, and in the soup itself, there's strips of beef, green onions, clear glass noodles, etc. The broth is very flavorful with some depth to it.
The mandu comes in a half order (4) or a full order (8), and you choose either pan-fried, deep-fried, or steamed. We got the classic steamed, and these do not disappoint. There's plenty of filling and the sauce with it is your classic soy mix. It's steamed perfectly- not dripping from condensation but also on the over side of the spectrum, not too dry.
All this food for 2 people is more than plenty. We took home about half of the food, and it could feed the both of us for another meal or two.
Overall, if you're craving Korean food, this is a good place to go. It's very flavorful and everything is cooked perfectly.
