I called asking if they have a Genie-brand garage remote, they said "yes" and it'll cost $40-$80 with service fee $39 which will be waived with service. Next day, the technician came out, told me 1 universal (not Genie-brand) garage remote is $80. Total cost for 2 remotes is $160 + $90 labor. I said I wasn't told about the labor. He agreed to waive labor so $160 for 2 remotes. I said I only need 1 remote. The technician called his manager and gave me the phone. After basically having to argue and telling him I'm not paying, they agreed to do 1 remote for $82. The tech programmed the remote (it literally took him 30seconds to do it. This is not an exaggeration, it really took him 30sec) and I paid.
Take away:
- It'll cost $27 from Walmart for the same universal remote, if you program it yourself
- It'll cost $82 for 1 remote for this company to program it "using their expertise", after you have to spend time and energy arguing your case
- It'll cost $160 + $90 for 2 remotes if you use this company if you don't question their charges
