| - Absolutely delightful! I couldn't believe it took us this long to get to the ROM, but the experience was top notch! On our most recent trip to Toronto, we decided to make a day with a couple friends we were traveling with to check out the Dale Chihuly exhibit. FYI, it's on display until January 2017. For those not that familiar with Chihuly's work, he has his flagship museum and glass display in Seattle. It's such a great time seeing his creations and the ROM's is a good compilation for the price of $28 cad, which includes admission to the entire museum.
Architecturally, the museum is a wow piece from Bloor St. You simply can't miss it. Inside, there's 4 levels of exhibits, my favorite being the natural history floor. However, each of the levels have wonderful displays, and I especially appreciated the mini displays in the stairwells of insects, military trinkets. The way they are displayed inside the walls is not only striking, but when you're coming down from the other levels, it is a great vantage point and focus.
I would say that you could spend a good 2-3 hours here, and there's plenty to see and do. I like that there's ample areas to lounge and to take in the beauty of the architecture, and that the spaces are well integrated to the themes they are portraying.
Thoughtful design, and great exhibits make this museum a must-see! Keep in mind that weekends are notoriously busy, and if you haven't bought your tickets ahead of arriving, you'll be waiting for a good 15-20 minutes. So, take advantage and buy online!
