The Whole Foods Market in South Tempe along Rural Road is one of the more subdued locations in the Valley. This store was repurposed from a former grocery store strip mall built in the 1980's. I remember shopping here when we first moved to Phoenix. The site was updated to accommodate the Whole Foods, but the store on the corner of Rural and Baseline still has many of the older features.
Inside, the store has the modern look of a Whole Foods with an extensive selection of local, natural, and organic options. They are rightly famous for the large prepared food section, which is convenient after yoga class or looking like you came from yoga class. It is a rather large store which is nice for selection and inventory, but this is more of a neighborhood Whole Foods instead of a showcase store.
