| - I am a frequent visitor to Las Vegas. I've stayed up and down the strip in nearly every hotel and I'm here to tell you, stay away from Paris.
It's location on the strip and shiny Eiffel Tower are what naturally draw people to it. Even I, at one point was determined to stay and play in ol Pariee.
I want to preface that a lot of On The Strip Vegas hotels are aging, and these hotels typically have 3 types of rooms
1. The recently updated creme de la creme. This is a top tier room, usually very expensive and beautiful.
2. The middle tier. These rooms were updated in 2008 and are now starting to show their wear and tear. They are still usually decent and are decently priced (usually $15-$30 more a night)
3. These rooms haven't been touched since the hotel was developed. They are very cheap, very ugly and very uncomfortable.
My husband and I booked a middle tier non-smoking room at Paris. It was still beyond expensive for what Paris is, but we agreed we wanted to do it once. We were let down from the very beginning.
Check in:
At the lobby they have check-in kiosks that you can use if you have your confirmation code or you can check in at the desk. The kiosks were all broken so we had to wait in line. Check in takes a loonnngg time. It's a big hotel, so the line was long. I think we waited 45 minutes.
The room:
When we got up to our floor it reeked of cigarette smoke. Our room was no different and there were ashtrays and matches on each furniture surface. I was sure we were put in a smoking room and called down and asked if we could be moved. They said no, we were in a non-smoking room, people just "don't always follow the rules," to which I replied "it's a little encouraging when you leave ashtrays and Paris branded match books in the room." They dismissed me and I was stuck in this room gasping for air. I later noticed on the doors that there was a non-smoking sign on our door... and our door alone. The rest of the floor was a smoking floor.
The headboard was made of fabric and was completely ripping and falling on our heads when we slept. We had 2 flat pillows that were completely worn, everything was coated in smoke, yellowing and small.
There were no outlets anywhere to be seen. The desk and nightstand outlets were covered so that guests could not get to them. There was one in the bathroom and one in the corner where a lamp was plugged in. This is where our phones lived.
I've paid way less than this on the strip and received much better (looking at you, Balley's right next door).
The Casino and restaurants are obviously very nice, in a great location and have a lot to offer. I guess if you must, go visit, but DO NOT STAY. STAY AWAY FROM THE SHINY LIGHTS!
Finally, the pool is a pool. With the Vegas pool scene usually being amazing, this one falls very low on comfort, beauty and needs renovation and shade.
The aftermath:
My husband actually had a stuffy nose and itchy watery eyes nightly from the cigarette smoke. By the second or third morning he was waking up with a sore throat and almost felt sickly. He still suffers from a cough and infection after our stay at the beginning of May.
