| - This is hands down our favorite restaurant in Madison! There are so many wonderful things to say about it, but I will try to keep it in 2 points:
1. The Beer: I love Belgian style beers, and in a city with plenty of beer (most of which is not that exciting, in my opinion) Brasserie V stands out because of its great selection of tap and bottled beers from Belgium, US craft brewers, and around the world. There are enough taps that there is plenty of variety and the rotating taps always offer something new and exciting! If that's not enough, their bottled beer selection is always excellent too. I think this is the best place to drink beer in Madison. The staff is also very knowledgeable about beer and willing to help in selection!
2. The Food: If possible, the food is even more exciting and wonderful than the beer. First of all, it is delicious. I have never had anything disappointing at Brasserie V and even simple meals such as soups and sandwiches stand out as excellent. I also love Brasserie V's emphasis on locally grown, sustainable food. I love knowing that the money I am spending is staying local and helping to support those who are growing vegetables and livestock sustainably.
I hope that at some point Brasserie V is able to expand - more tables would be a plus, but I also love their Monroe Street location and their space. Even if they never expand, I am more than willing to go at off peak times, sit at the bar, and wait for a table if necessary. It's worth the wait.
