| - Solid tower - very solid, in fact, as base of the tower appears to be made of concrete. As with most things tall, the tower is not the tallest in the area, as downtown Calgary has grown up around it, so that several other buildings are now rather larger, including a few that are being worked on right at the moment, so you get to see that happening around you.
If at all possible, go up on a clear day, as you can see all the way to the mountains in one direction and, well, a long way in the other (there really isn't much over there, except perhaps the airport and a few moose, but they're probably too small to see).
As with most things touristy, the ride is too expensive to get to the top, there are lots of gifts that are rather overpriced, and you aren't really getting much out of it. But you knew that - it's not about the price, it's about the view. If you are worried about it, go to dinner and get the view for free (and spin around as a bonus).
The upper deck actually is closed most of the time, which is a shame, because you go even higher. As a nice bonus, their elevator is one of the coolest - they have these display screens that show you (something like) what you would be seeing if you could actually see outside of the windows, if there were windows that is. Worth a ride, because it is a tower after all.
