| - I've historically had very good experiences here, but this one was not so great of an experience for a few reasons. There were four in our party and started with Kobe beef tartare which was delicious as always. For entrees we had skirt steak, bone in ribeye and free range chicken, all delicious. For sides, sautéed spinach (just okay), potato purée, hen of the woods mushrooms and white corn grits. Very disappointed in the grits as they tasted like liquid smoke!! I like a smokey flavor but this was bad. We also had a very nice Merlot blend and this where things took a turn. As we all finished our wine, every single one of us ended up with a mouthful of sediment. Not just a little, I'm talking full on globs of it. Not only did it end up in our mouths, it was still clinging heavily to the glasses. There were several unused decanters right behind our table. We brought it to the attention of our waiter who made the mgr aware. Quite honestly, he was kind of an ass and came off as pompous and made us feel like either we shouldn't have been bothered by the sediment or were not savvy enough to understand wine. Um, not my first bottle bub. He did apologize and asked if we were going to have dessert, but it was almost as a check the box kind of thing. We were too full for dessert and with that, he moved on very quickly. I don't expect perfection, but do kind of expect a good overall experience and to be treated kindly when dropping nearly $700 for a meal.
