  • One word...brutal. This is by far the worst venue to see a band in the city that I have been to. The main area in front of the stage is far too narrow, which means you get completely jammed and it makes it nearly impossible to get a drink from the side bar. If you do get squeezed off to the side unless you are 6'+ it can be difficult to see because the dance floor is about an inch higher so you are at a bit of a disadvantage. I also found the sound to be anemic with very little energy. Perhaps at the request of the island residents they keep the volume lower but I found it unacceptably low for a rock show. Particularly the openers, I could barely hear the opening acts over the cacophony of bar chatter (in fact I had to ask two girls to be quiet during the show so that I could hear the band). Like everyone else has mentioned it is in the middle of nowhere and there is no chance of getting anywhere quickly after the show for a nightcap. Unless it is a top five act it is difficult to imagine ever going back for a show (I can't wait for the Travis show even though that means a return trip). Hopefully promoters will take notice and keep the shows in the city. One tip, it may be a slightly cheaper cab ride from the Danforth. We cruised down Carlaw to Eastern and got there from Pape & Danforth for less than $20. Cheers.
