| - Absolutely delish tiny bakery open early, so I was so lucky to get things fresh from the oven as they're resting on racks. Mandarin speaking staff but the kids manning the counter were obviously fluent English speakers so, my Mandarin being horrible, relied on that. Had the much vaunted hot dog bao, a boh loh bao, a coffee bao, and there may've been one more... The hot dog bao was surprisingly a bit spicy, like, hot, with inclusion of red pepper, which I really liked, and the bao was very tender, yet springy, absolutely delish. The coffee bao could use a bit more coffee flavor, tho still tasty and nice contrast between the crispy covering and the bao. Finally, you'd think with pineapple being now a Taiwan national export that they could actually put pineapple filling in the boh loh bao, but for some reason no one ever has, in the way the Japanese have put melon filling in their version, called melon pan. Anyway, that hasn't made it any less tasty here. Highly recommend.
