  • This is a long overdue review. I have been coming here since they opened, and it is our default restaurant. When we have big groups, take our out of town guests, and when we don't know what to eat, we come to Soyo. Ambiance: it is a nice casual place where the music is somewhat loud so you can be loud with your friends too :p Services: the reason I gave four stars. I feel like the service here used to be better. Now, it is inconsistent. I had to keep waving down a waitress when I sat upstairs with the big group a couple of times. Food: I can say Soyo is probably my favorite Korean place in town asides from Korean BBQ places. Here's the some of the items we order consistently: 1. Rice cake skewers (5/5): nice chewy fried rice cake with sweet and spicy sauce. Our must order. It came with two skewers with five pieces each. 2. Chicken wings (4/5): we usually ask for half and half. Half spicy and half garlic sauce since there's always someone in the group who doesn't eat spice as much. It comes with 8 pieces. 3. Galbi Jjim (5/5): another must order for me. It's a short rib beef stew with white radish, carrot and onion. The savory sauce with hint of sweetness. It is cooked perfectly almost every time. It only has about 4 to 5 pieces of meat so order two if you have a big group. 4. Spicy cold buckwheat noodle (4/5): we like to order this during the summer time. It is nicely seasoned with spicy and sour sauce. 5. Grilled Mackerel (4/5): don't order this dish if you only like fillet fish with no bones. They used to have half order but now they only have full order which is a pretty decent size for a table of 4 to 6 to share. We also enjoy seafood casserole, corn cheese, tofu pots, mandu, and variety of cocktail and flavored rice wine here. Most of our friends who we took here really enjoy this place and want to come back. Soyo group has a great designer who designed their restaurants nicely. From Soyo, Sparkling, Goong, and Yuxiang, each has its own individuality. I think the common quality that these restaurants have is the consistency. My recent favorite from the Soyo group is Yuxiang. Can't wait to see what other type of place they will be opening in town!
