  • I am usually a bit skeptical about going to a brewery as you are usually stuck drinking their inhouse brews. I am very particular about my beer drinking and stick with established, old world German labels like Weihenstephan, Ayinger, Paulaner, Erdinger, Konig Ludwig, Julian Echter, Maisel's, Flensburger, Franziskaner, etc. I don't want to sample Joe brewmasters latest concoction nor do I jump on the trend wagon. I also like the German offerings as they follow the Reinheitsgebot - the German purity law of 1516 that dictates that only water, barley and hops can be used in the making of the beer. God only knows what some of the small craft brewers are tossing into their offerings. Anyhow, back to Mindful. I like that I can choose from a nice selection of my favorite German weizen's. I had an Ayinger and an Erdinger Dunkel on my visit ro tonight. My wife and I sampled food from the happy hour menu - a Margherita pizza, pierogies, and a pair of plain jane grass fed burgers. Everything was tasty and we had zero issues with our meal or overall experience. My wife was happy to see so many local, organic or responsibility raised food items and I was happy to have my comfort beers outside of my home. You can't get an Ayinger or Erdinger Dunkel just anywhere. My only complaint was that i wasn't offered a weizen glass for my beers. I would expect a brewery to use the proper glass for the individual beer types. We will be back though.
