| - I'm not going to admit that there was anytime when I've snuck beers into a movie theater. I mean, that would just be dumb, right? I know... I'd never do that.
What I will admit is my joy and relief that Clevelanders have such a great independent, breath-of-fresh-air theater that also serves wine and beer. My days of spending $10 on seeing a crappy movie and (not) sneaking in brews are long gone!
Cedar Lee is a fantastic place to catch interesting documentaries, artsy and independent films, without that pretentious vibe. It's an older theater, which gives its charm with a little bit of grunge. That doesn't mean it's dirty, it just has character.
You won't find stadium seating or intense sound systems that leave you with buzzing eardrums for hours afterwards. If you're looking for that, go to a big-box megaplex or something. This is just a great spot to relax and watch a hard-to-come-across film the right way--the way people used to. Love it.
Now back to important things, like cocktails. Yes, tasty microbrews and wines for sale to be the icing on your viewing experience. I'm sold. And when I say microbrews, I mean some good stuff here, people! Oh, they have snacks too (ahem... my lover, popcorn.)
You know what else I love? Well, besides everything I've just mentioned... I adore that Cedar Lee doesn't just show new blockbusters or popular indy films. They have cult film nights and festivals, classic flicks that take you back to a different time, and even foreign showings! There really is something for every taste here.
If I could change one thing about Cedar Lee, it would be how long it takes for me to get there. I know, it sounds lazy, but I loathe driving to Cleveland Heights. Wah! (Yes, I'm whinning) Oh well, it's definitely worth the road-rage filled trip.
