Chestnut is where I take out-of-towners for a casual Sunday brunch (but having worked across the street, I know it's good anytime!). Upscale enough to show that I care and have good taste, but casual enough to avoid pretension. The food is clever, diverse, and consistently excellent. The bloody mary excels through simplicity. The coffee is both thoughtfully chosen and well brewed. Ordering is done at the cash register, and comes with friendly service. The flower shop is an interesting store-within-a-store and a feast for the eyes. If you have the occasion to speak to the owner (or one of the owners, perhaps?), consider yourself lucky. She was effortlessly classy and nice.
