  • My husband and I took my parents to The Dor-Stop to try a new place for Sunday brunch. The first thing that caught my eye was that this restaurant was visited by Guy Fieri on his Food Network TV Show "Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives"! Being a Food Network lover myself, I was pleasantly surprised. We arrived at 10:30am and had to make our way through the line of waiting people to put our name in for table. The line extended out of the door as we were told it would be about a half hour before we were seated which was reasonable considering the length of the line. We were seated within that time frame as the lined continued to grow. After we were seated we were instantly served by a waitress with water and any additional beverages that were requested. The menu had selections focused on breakfast and lunch, a variety that would satisfy anyone walking through the door. From eggs, hot cakes, and french toast, to burgers, and sandwiches, the options are there. I ordered the Banana Chocolate Chip Premium Hot Cakes as recommended by our waitress and they were outstanding! They were loaded with chocolate chips and bananas alike, with both items used as toppings as well. I could not have been more pleased with my selection. My mother ordered the Stuffed Raspberry French Toast, the feature on Guy's TV Show, and it was exceptional. The portions were more than generous and the service was excellent. The waitresses worked together to make sure that all the customers needs were met especially as the waiting line continue to grow outside of the restaurant's walls. The interior of the diner has a retro feel with a multi-colored tile floor, small booths and tables with limited walking space in between, a sit down food bar with old fashioned bar stools, and a color palette of greens and tans throughout. Numerous pictures of individuals were scattered on the walls and large windows with deep window sills allow customers to observe the streets of Dormont. There is free on-street parking throughout the area but if one chooses to go on a weekend, as we did, one may have to walk a few blocks to the restaurant. If you are willing to wait outside or in tight spaces for a half hour for diner food, this is a place you must try! Make sure to stop by before early afternoon breakfast, brunch, or lunch as they close by 3pm Mon-Sat, and 2pm on Sunday!
