  • QUICK & DIRTY: Before stuffing your face with silicone boobies and butts in Vegas, fuel-up with a bowl of deliciousness at Monta Ramen. ***** My chubby, Filipino Uber driver -- transporting my friend and me from the airport to our hotel, -- tried selling us strippers to our room that night. So I decided to steer the conversation: "My man, where does an Asian homie like me get down with some ramen up in Vegas?" He replied, "Oh, Monta Ramen, dog. That's the spot." I yelped it, of course, and corroborated his recommendation with the four-star average and overall glowing reviews. Things to know: ***** I. LOCATION & PARKING: This small restaurant resides in a strip mall off of Spring Mountain Road. It sits adjacent to Kung-Fu Tea and Big Wong. Could this shopping area be any more Asian? haha. The lot doesn't have a lot of room, and parking will be harder than ascending to the top of rope at the end of just about every Ninja Warrior course. God speed. II. FOOD & DRINK: Their simplified menu ensures speedy service. They serve six different kinds of ramen (your base), and each added topping, of course, costs extra. They also offer a cold noodle dish, appetizers ranging from gyoza to three different kinds of fried rice, Ashai or Budweiser beer. They carry tea and Coke products, too. I tasted their Kuro Ramen Black Garlic Oil, which is a garlic flavored pork broth with thin noodles ($6.95). For toppings, I ordered a soft boil egg ($1.50) and chasu ($2.50) The savory broth had a nice depth to it. Not like other ramen places where it just tastes watered with salt. It also had enough garlic. This bowl also comes with thin noodles, so they're not as bouncy or chewy as one might receive in a traditional tonkotsu. However, I still enjoyed eating them. The slices of chashu pork melted in my mouth. I regret not getting another order. The soft boiled egg came out with the soup cold, so I'm assuming they cook them beforehand and then refrigerate in order to save time. (Maybe?) I don't know. Maybe pouring a ladle or two of broth over the egg before bringing it out would've helped. Not a big deal, though. III. SERVICE: They have an efficient setup, so the food came out fast. Also, the host and server treated me nicely. No problems there. IV. AMBIENCE & DECOR: The small shop seems like it can only fit up to 30 people if that. I wouldn't recommend Manta, though, for groups. Rather, I'd recommend this place, for those wanting to eat solo or up to a couple other people AT MOST. I'd also recommend it to Uber drivers trying to hook up their passengers with strippers, too. Haha. V. PRICES: Affordable, especially when considering the other food options in Vegas. I'd eat there weekly if I lived close by, honestly. VI. OVERALL: Will this ramen blow your mind? I don't think so. But if you're looking to get your fix with a more than above average bowl in Vegas, Monta will likely deliver.
