  • You get what you pay for. My husband and I used a Val-Pak coupon for a short getaway from our every day life. The coupon was for 1 night in a king room and dinner and breakfast are included. When we arrived, check in was very smooth. We went up to our room and quickly realized that you get what you pay for. The nicest word I can come up with is dated. The light fixtures and the vent/fan in the bathroom were yellow with age. The tile in the bathroom while looked mostly clean was clearly showing age, along with the faux yellow marble counter tops. Online it had stated that there would be a DVD player in every room, ours did not have one. When we went down to leave for some hiking, we asked at the front desk and they were surprised to learn there wasn't one, and by the time we returned there had been one installed. The Wifi was a pain to get to work, we finally just gave up. When we checked in the desk clerk told us to make a reservation for dinner because they can get quite busy, and it was a Friday night. We made a reservation for 7:30. I just laughed when we arrived for dinner. They were not even close to busy, there was no one in the place! We did have a table at the big picture windows near the fireplace. The atmosphere was nice. Our server was super sweet and attentive. The food, well the food was not great. Once again, you get what you pay for and with our val-pak our entrees were comped, thank goodness, because our meal was not worth the $60 it would have been otherwise. I also thought the menu was a bit pricey, a Coke was $3.00 and plain old frozen cheese sticks $11.00! As we were finishing our meal, another family was just coming in, so then they had the place all to themselves. It was quite during the evening hours, which if nothing else was nice. We went down for breakfast and again found we had the place to ourselves. As we lingered over our breakfast the restaurant did start to fill up. Breakfast was by far better than our dinner, but once again nothing super great about it. We probably won't stay here again.
