| - Came here with my husband for dinner while looking into the latest joint in town,Tivoli Village.
Now, I hardly give any reviews but this place I think deserves one.
Once inside the restaurant we were told that "tonight is their soft opening" & offered the patrons a 20% discount while they test the waters & fix any kinks. Now we've checked this place online prior to coming in but the added bonus has certainly lured us in.
After being seated, our waiter Jeremy apologized right away if things are not up to speed yet. At the moment there's no drink menu so my husband settled for a Greek Beer while I chose a non-complicated drink - ice tea.
Moving on to their menu, it's quite a selection actually & pretty decent at that. We started w/ the Spanakopita which was served warm and tastes just wonderful in your mouth. This was very light & flaky. I wish there were more on the plate!
Next we had the Chicken Souvlaki which to my surprise packs so much flavor! Even the rice that came with it was Deeelish!
For our next course, we decided to get the Slow Roasted Lamb Shank. Before we get to have our taste test, we were served instead w/ the Branzini. We quickly informed the server that this was not what we had in mind. (Although if that would have been some other time, I would have gladly taken it since I know that would've been a delicious meal as well.) However our hearts were already set on this piece of meat! He apologized & tried to correct it right away. A few minutes have passed & the Asst. Manager, Brian came by to check on us & again was very apologetic. We said we didn't mind waiting & we did have a forewarn prior to coming in. So then just when we thought our order was ready, we were served w/ the Gyro Platter! So in a respectful way, we explained to the lady that this was not what we ordered. Our waiter immediately saw this & ushered her to the right table. So my husband said, the next time they're bringing another plate, we're eating it whatever it is, hehe... Thank goodness, they got it right the 3rd time. I guess 3rd time's truly a charm!
For someone that hardly eats Lamb I'd say this is a scrumptious meal! I do cook lamb at home since it's my husband's favorite food & I definitely have a keen taste for it. I'd say this is definitely in one of the top of my list for Lamb entrees. The meat was very tender & savory! I would definitely recommend it to whoever enjoys this type of treat. I can't believe I even tried to scrape the bone marrow, it was definitely yummm-o!
To end the meal, we tried one of the desserts - the classic Baklava. It was all what you expect it to be, sweet, nutty & gooey. I would have ordered the molten chocolate cake but unfortunately it was not available then. I would definitely return & try some of their other dishes.
Given that this is a soft opening I think 4 stars is well deserved and I'm sure as soon as the small minute details have been ironed out , the rate of 5 stars is definitely in the horizon!
I wish nothing but the best for the owners & the staff! I'm looking forward to my next meal already! =D
