  • When I brought my 10 wk old, 3lb Chihuahua puppy in for his very first veterinary experience and shots, I expected the Dr to spend time with me and my puppy getting to know us and allow me to ask questions. Most importantly to make his first visit as positive as possible. Instead my puppy & I had the worst experience ever with the vet tech and Dr. Peterson. There are other rave reviews here but I'm confident they were NOT about Dr. Peterson. First of all, they made us wait in the room well past our appointment time. The vet tech proceeds to place my 3lb puppy up on a high table and spend very little time socializing with him before listing to his heart and weighing him. Then she leaves to get the Dr. and we wait another 10 minutes before Dr. Peterson comes in. In all fairness, she may have been working on a sick dog in the back or some other higher priority issue that I can understand, but can you please have the decency to come tell us the reason for the wait! This little puppy is growing more anxious in this strange place the longer he waits. Dr. Peterson finally comes in and right away I sensed her lack of people skills & bed side manner. A very insincere introduction is an understatement. She spent very little time socializing and calming my puppy and again had him up on a high table. Maybe I was spoiled with my previous vet and previous puppy experience because at the last place I took my previous puppy they sat on the floor with him and spent almost 20 minutes just letting the puppy get used to the Dr. while the Dr. asked me questions and let me ask questions too. Going back to the present, this Dr. Peterson proceeds to examination and my puppy growls out of fear. Dr. Peterson never asked me if I had any experience with puppies and just assumed I was ignorant. She had the audacity to tell me that I needed to get that growling behavior in check right away, and in a very condescending way. Furthermore, offered no advice other than this is not normal even if the puppy is scared. She was adamant that is not normal for a scared puppy to growl. Then she tries to muzzle him for his shots and the puppy gets even more afraid. With much apprehension I let her take him to the back to give him his shots. The vet tech brings back my puppy after a long period of time AGAIN. She tells me to schedule my next appt for shots and tells me all set to check out and pay. Dr. Peterson never came back into the room to consult with me. I don't understand why Dr. Peterson wanted to be a vet when she clearly didn't seem to have a love or passion, at least not for my puppy. I highly recommend that you avoid this place like the plague.
