Horrendous service, poor management and terrible attitudes ran this theater on a pathetic Wednesday evening. The stars were aligned for this one.
1.) I am house sitting for a friend who leaves for vacation tonight. I had just picked up his keys before my girlfriend and I took another friend to the movies for his birthday. The vacation friend needed his keys back from me but I would be in the movie by the time he got to the theater. I asked the box office employee if they wouldn't mind putting the keys behind the counter so I wouldn't need to leave the theater mid movie. He simply said, yeah I can't do that. I asked him if he wouldn't mind asking a manager. So this kid walks away and walkies his manager, them comes back and tells us "yeah we don't do that." I find the manager on my own and ask why not and if an exception can be made. He is very smug when he flatly says that it's their policy. I tell him that I understand policy but it would have been nice if the desk clerk would have explained that it was a policy instead of saying that he wouldn't do it and didn't seem to have any concern or desire to help me. Very poor customer service as well as attitude and lack of professionalism from the staff's management.
2.) The wait staff was terribly slow. I would be fine if it were slow and we got even the simplest apology even if it weren't heartfelt but no such luck. I timed the server on two of four occasions that I lit up my call button and it took 12 minutes and 17 minutes. I would understand if they were super busy but there were maybe 30 people in the theater. That's INSANE. Then not only does our server take forever to answer the lit up call button, but through the evening, I saw 4 different people. Not one asked if we needed anything else and not one took away dishes that we were clearly finished with. That is until the original waitress comes by to see if we have payment ready for the check she dropped off. Of course, NOW you want to be attentive.
There were other little things like unclean bathrooms and all around unfriendly, discourteous staff but the first two were enough. I come from many jobs in customer service so perhaps my standard is high, but not unreasonable. Without customers, this place doesn't exist. You'd think that they would care more about our experience as clients of the theater. I've been to AMC theaters in the valley and never had an issue until now. This specific theater will never receive my business again and I will vehemently recommend against them if any such opportunity arises. I truly hope someone fixes this theater and their staff.
Do yourself a favor and visit a different theater, AMC or otherwise.
