I was headed over to the new Welcome Diner for lunch today but they don't open until 5 PM. I had also wanted to try out the new Gallo Blanco so I went across the street.
The building is a former grocery store that's been remodeled and I headed to the right from the entrance door to the bar that you really can't see when you first walk in to the the restaurant.
It was a little odd to see an old Anthony Bourdain show playing on one of the TVs given what had just transpired. I'm gonna miss Tony and his take on travel and food. Gallo Blanco is a place that he would have liked.
They have a full bar, wine, and some pretty good craft beer selections on tap. I had the La Bomba torta to eat which was fantastic. Large, meaty, cheesy and a great bun. The chips were an extra $2 and came with squeeze bottles of red and green salsa.
I enjoyed my lunch and will be back to this corner of the Garfield district in the near future.
