  • The South Side Slopes: if it's possible for a sandwich to take years off your life this is the one to do the job. Though I don't know and never want to know the true number I firmly believe it's a 10,000 calorie sandwich. All that being said: it's worth it. You probably won't find this in Warsaw but it's my favorite expression of Polish cuisine. Pierogies and keilbasa stacked a foot high...impossible to go wrong. Admittedly, Fat Head's also holds a special place in my heart as the locale of my very first (legal) drink - Maredsous 8, which remains a solid Belgian dubbel. Nostalgia and "death-on-a-plate" sandwiches aside, there's a lot else to like. The draft list is consistently very good, though why they keep Miller Lite on I will never understand. I'm also a fan of the bottle shop upstairs, but be warned, due to insane PA laws you pretty much have to pay bar prices when taking things to go. My only other gripe is that I wish they would expand the standing area immediately in the front of the bar. I realize this would be a major renovation but it would alleviate being smashed in as well as make it a better place to watch games.
