| - I stayed here for 3 nights and I must say, I was disappointed. I can't quite put my finger on it but the room I stayed in made me feel weird. The only part of my room that I liked was the bathroom. Aside from that, I didn't like it at all. Some of the furniture is a bit raggedy looking upon close inspection and the rooms are dark and dreary look. The desk chair was falling apart and the shower handle in the bathroom fell off multiple times. Absolutely unacceptable!
The service from the staff was wonderful and very accommodating though I did experience something that really really really rubbed me the wrong way. When I went to have drinks at the bar downstairs, I encountered a female bartender (a brunette/blonde-ish girl) who was so busy flirting with some patron that she completely disregarded me telling her to exclude a certain ingredient from my drink. I'm not going to state what this ingredient is but I'm ALLERGIC to it. Because she was so busy being chatted up by the idiot patron, she included said ingredient to my cocktail and I ended up taking a sip of the cocktail. My friend pointed out to me that he thinks she had included the ingredient in my cocktail--I smelled the cocktail and sure enough, the ingredient was in it. Since I always try to avoid this particular ingredient, my sense of smell towards it is very sensitive (meaning I can easily smell it). We tried to get her attention but she was busy chatting and flirting her life away with the patron that was flirting with her.
When we finally did get her attention, my friend asked her if she included the ingredient in my drink and she said yes. He then told her that I asked for the ingredient not be included--mind you, we BOTH told her not to add this ingredient prior to her making this drink and she still didn't pay attention.
I don't pay money to hotels just so the staff can cause me to have an allergic reaction. If I wanted to have an allergic reaction, I would have stayed at home and consumed the ingredient on my own. It's highly deplorable that someone handling food and drinks can be so careless.
Aside from that annoying experience with the negligent bartender, the rest of the staff was wonderful but I won't get coming back.
Next time I'm in Toronto, I'll just go stay at the Four Seasons or the Shangri-La--at least they won't poison me.
