| - When this was The Hotel at Mandalay Bay, it was awesome. It was a 5-Star visit every time. The special feeling I used to get when I stayed here, is now gone. Unfortunately, it is now the virtual opposite of how it used to be.
Today, I have wasted four hours of my time trying to switch from a room with the view of a construction zone, to a room with a view of the strip. Every 30 minutes, they tell me it will be another 30 minutes for them to get a new room ready.
Finally, I go to the front desk and I see that the rooms a stranger can walk in and get today are more than $100 less than what I am being charged.
The manager, Kristin, comes to speak to me and was condescending to me during our entire conversation.
I let her know I felt I was being overcharged and frankly, she let me know she did not care. So I asked her to waive the resort fee or credit for breakfast, and she said no and asked "Why would I do that?"
Well ... to keep a loyal customer happy. That is why. I've come here every single year since this hotel has been open. I've given 5-Star reviews (One won ROTD) for The Hotel because it used to be fantastic.
And now ... not so much.
What a shame that Kristin is so short sighted and does not care about the client experience. No wonder there are rooms available on Hotels Tonight at $159 ... when there is a conference going on with 17,000 attendees. Why would people want to pay a premium when the experience is no longer a premium to match?
