  • First timer at a wine festival. I've heard so many great things about wine festivals that I was really excited to be able to attend one so close when we moved here. I can say that I was a bit disappointed. I do not believe I'll be purchasing an upgraded VIP ticket in the future, unless the offerings are more enhanced than was offered this year. The VIP wine selections were from the same vineyards as those offered at general admission tents and the last few we tasted were truly awful. Although cheese and bread was offered at the tent, it wasn't anything to write home about. There were a few tables and chairs - some with shade and some without - bottled water, canned soft drinks, and there were also plenty of bees to interrupt a relaxing moment. If I return, I'll bring snacks and enjoy time on the lawn with the band. Regarding food offerings, they were quite limited. I believe there were 3 food vendors. All fried food, except one that offered a limited variety, including gyros. That one was very backed up and the ordering system was not handled well. On the positive side, there was a large tent for people to sit and eat or drink, and to get out of the sun for a bit( general admission tickets allowed access to this, so was good for everyone). Regarding the system of tastings at each wine booth/tent, my friend (who has attended other wine festivals) and I were a bit put off by the way things were run. You must have patience - not just with those who may have over enjoyed, but also with those who simply do not know how to share the space. If you have a question about a particular offering, it's understood that you need extra time and education. Perhaps it would be good to have a separate side of the tent reserved for that and for purchases vs just sampling. If you're simply wanting to sample every wine offered, its more courteous to enjoy your pour while waiting in line again for another turn and allow someone else move forward. I do not blame the attendees as much as I feel the vendors should recognize how frustrating it is for visitors (and likely also frustrating for those staffing the tent) and revamp the system to create a different flow. All in all, I enjoyed spending time with my friend for pre-Birthday activity, and, but if I attend again I will definitely search for discounted tickets. And I certainly did not value the benefit of the VIP tent as being good enough to warrant the $49 (plus tax) ticket price.
