  • I visited on an off season weekday, so the Zoomobile and most of the food vendors and shops were closed. I wasn't necessarily counting on these things being open, so it wasn't a big issue. Arriving as the zoo was opening, it took me about 5-6 hours to see everything (minus the otters, which seemed to be hiding), with a half hour spent at the cafe. Since it was first thing in the morning, there was no line to see the pandas. It was a pretty hot day, and the pavilions were hotter than outside. It wasn't unbearable, but unpleasant. Luckily, there are drinking fountains scattered throughout the park so hydration was never an issue. The animals seemed content enough. The big cats were mostly lounging around, but that's to be expected. The primates were active, which is also to be expected. The habitats seem nice and clean. I will note, the map makes note of a steep hill going down to the Canadian zone. It's not an exaggeration. There was a nice park employee giving rides from the Grizzly bears back up the hill, which was a total lifesaver. If I ever get to return to this zoo, I'll probably just skip that section just in case, even though the cougars were a pretty sight.
