  • Update, 4/14/18: went for fish fry last night. Round one: Husband's perch, my cod were cold. Sent back. Round two: my cod was hot, husband's perch cold. He sent his back again. Round three: Manager brought out hot perch and it was terrific. Love the fish fry here. Not sure why it was cold at first, but the manager made it right and comped husband's meal. We'll be back. Again and again. Great service, food. Worth the wait. Mistakes happen, but management cares and makes it RIGHT. The Old Fashioned is my favorite place to take out-of-town guests. It showcases the Wisconsin food and culture that we all remember from trips Up Nort', but offers some sensible and vegetarian food, too. The walleye is terrific (huge portion) and the stuffed trout is great (if you don't mind your fish staring at you). They also have salads with Wisconsin ingredients like bleu cheese and Door County Cherries. It's always fun when my guests see that they can add a fried egg, bacon, or Braunschweiger to their orders for little extra.
