Won't be returning.
I hate writing a negative reviews- but wish that we would have read one before going to Royal Taj tonight. My wife brought the family here after she enjoyed their great takeout. Our experience tonight fell far short of her last one.
Ordered naan bread & pompodons- $6. Burned Naan arrived with the meal 15 minutes later. (tasty nonetheless).
Seekh kabob- $15- I was expecting something like saag meat with the description. It was nothing like it- just broiled meat and onions on a plate. I bit into a large tendon in the lamb meat and sent the meal back, 90% uneaten.
chicken vindaloo- $11- Fair, but nothing to write home about
Shahjahni Biryani- $11- Says the menu, "the specialty of the house, boneless chicken...". That's just why we got it for small children. We were astounded when one of them nearly choked on large (dime sized) bone fragments in the meal.
Worse still, I've never been to an Indian restaurant that charges for at least one serving of rice with two or three main courses. None came with our meal so we ordered one basmati- $2. The rice portion size was far too small for 3 dishes.
We spoke with server and manager about the poor quality of the kabob and biryani. To their credit they brought an unsolicited mango lassi for the kids, gratis. But they made no apology for the sharp bone pieces or clearly poor quality kabob. I was hoping for (even a small) adjustment. +1 star for ambiance & +1 for cleanliness; -1 each for value, for taste & service.
At the end of the night we blew $50 and wished that we had instead eaten at the Burger King across the parking lot. Royal Taj lost our business from here on out. Try India Grill instead.
