  • I've always enjoyed dining at Kaya. Most recently, I went for dinner with two of my close friends. We had and I suggest making a reservation, even if you're planning on dining during the week. It was quite busy for a Thursday at 7pm. Upon arrival, we were promptly seated toward the back of the restaurant. Our sever, Autumn, greeted us and gave us ample time to review the drink and food menu. In addition to a fun selection of cocktails, they also have a large wine menu. We each ordered a glass of wine ($10). We decided to order an appetizer and chose the calamari. I always like calamari, but I always think it tastes the same. Which leads me to ask, why do I order it? Anyway, instead of a traditional marinara on the side, they served theirs with a yummy, green sauce. Slightly spicy tangy, but delicious. The calamari wasn't super greasy (a plus). For our entrees, I ordered the fish tacos (grilled, not crispy) ($18), and the other two ordered the fried chicken special ($18) and a fancy burger (can't remember exactly what made it so special). The tacos, something I've had many times before are just wonderful. The kitchen doesn't skimp here, packing each with a nice portion of fish, coleslaw and dressing. The fried chicken platter looked amazing. Keep in mind that they only serve the fried chicken on Thursday nights (perhaps that's why it was so busy?). My friend noted that the chicken was super delicious (it looked it!). We didn't stick around for dessert because we were so full. All in all, a really great night at a fun restaurant in Pittsburgh's Strip District.
