  • At the suggestion of my partner who tried Salon 1226 the month before, I decided to give it a go. I was a little hesitant about the prices, but it was Christmastime, so it was like a special treat for myself. I easily made an appointment online. I emailed my availability and someone responded very quickly to me. I later received a text with the name of my stylist, Shay. On the day of my appointment, I used GPS to find the salon. When it told me I had arrived, I drove past it, not sure exactly where it was when it told me I was there. It sits between Moo & Brew and Pint Central, so I guess I was distracted. I didn't think it would be right there between two restaurant/bars. Now I know. I walked in and immediately loved the atmosphere. It doesn't look very big from the outside, but once you walk in, it's a very big space, with a large waiting area. I was greeted right away by several people, including the owners, and even offered a drink. I was about 15 minutes early, so I checked in and sat down. My stylist soon came out to introduce herself and let me know that she was still with a client. That was very friendly and welcoming of her, but I knew I was super early, so no worries. When it was my turn, Shay brought me back and we talked for a little bit about my hair and requests. It was nice to be asked so many intuitive questions. I could immediately tell that I was going to walk out of there with a good haircut and style. I guess I'm used to stylists/barbers just doing whatever they want, even when you do make requests. Shay then took me over to wash my hair, which I haven't had done at a salon in years and years and years. She also massaged my scalp. It was so relaxing. She brought me back to her station and talked more about what we should do with my hair, what I currently use for product, how I style it, etc. Again, it was fantastic that she was putting in so much effort for "just" a men's haircut. She spent a lot of time on my hair, doing much more than a traditional cut, buzz, and go. I loved being pampered so much, and ended up walking out of there with a haircut that I love. The cost didn't bother me anymore because I really got my money's worth and felt special walking out of there. As Shay walked me to the checkout, she pointed out the various products for sale that she used on my hair. Under no-pressure sales, I even ended up buying a bottle of the shampoo used on me. The prices of their products (Bumble & Bumble) are decent for the quality of them. Coming back to Salon 1226 will definitely be a regular trip for me from now on. It's not just a necessity, it's a special treat.
