| - Woodman's is a sad, dirty place. The entire store is just ugly and dirty and crammed full of people.
Others have complained about their produce, and I certainly agree - it's awful. They do have a good amount of organic/health food items now, but it's not very well organized. Other grocery stores really need to follow what Hy-Vee is doing as far as store layout is concerned.
And what's up with the aggressive shoppers at Woodman's? People seem really keen on either running you over in the parking lot or pushing you down with their shopping cart. This has been the case every time I've gone to the Eastside location! Simmer down, people. I fully understand that being inside this store is unpleasant and you want to get the hell out, but don't injure me.
The one positive I can think of is their liquor department is pretty great. They have pretty much everything, and it's pretty cheap. Don't fall for the discount booze items in the cart by the cash registers. Trust me, it will be disgusting.
The whole "Woodman's is so much cheaper than anywhere else!" myth is getting old, too. It's not worth the effort, as other grocery stores are pretty competitively priced. The things that may be cheaper here are only by a penny or two. I mean, they may have Hamburger Helper at a stellar price, but that doesn't really appeal to me.
You have better grocery store options in Madison.
