  • One year ago I refinanced my two-story home with ONCU. The experience with loan officer Anthony Tuason was amazing. I had pre-booked a vacation week on a Colorado ranch and they sent someone up 8,000 elevated feet to the secluded ski lodge so that I could complete papers. Now that is awesome service! Recently I grew tired of a larger home and decided to rent it and down-size to something smaller. I contacted ONCU and on January 9th, 2018. I was directed to speak to Senior Real Estate Loan Officer Jeff Rosenblatt regarding financing a new home loan. I had a verbal conversation with Jeff and he wasn't very encouraging about me purchasing a new home. Instead of being encouraged, he gave me more reasons why it would be nearly impossible. I had never purchased a resale and didn't know the first step on what to do. I decided to completely stop looking for a home because I told my real estate agent that the future didn't look too bright with Jeff and the agent referred me to another lender. What I find most disturbing is through this process, Jeff NEVER reached out to me. I sent him my documents Feb. 12th, 2018, and he completely ignored me. Once I found a home and chose a lender, each potential lender ---even though I did not finance through them, asked me to write a review. They had an amazing experience with me just communicating and I wondered why the one company that I had an existing loan with would be so unprofessional? I find it sad that Jeff not only ruined my impression of ONCU, but that I find it difficult to recommend this CU to anyone--for fear they'd have to go through him. I was highly under the impression, based on Jeff's lack of replies that he took his position as: A. Lackadaisical and unmotivating B. As God, abusing his authority and granting those he saw fit to achieve a loan I knew within 2 days that I would be bidding on a home and I asked 4 other lenders the exact same questions I asked Jeff, and I provided them the exact same financial documents I provided Jeff. On that very same day I contacted 3 new lenders, and 3 got back to me that same day except Jeff. In fact, over ONE MONTH LATER, after closing on my home I--NOT JEFF, reached out to Jeff out of curiosity and asked him if he received my documents. His answer was that I didn't provide him with lease agreement information! That was a lie and even if that were true what prevented him from contacting me all that time? I'm not a heartless person, and we all get busy and had Jeff said, "I apologize so much. I dropped the ball. I got completely overwhelmed and side tracked." I would have said, "I totally understand." But, instead Jeff blamed me and then I emailed him back with attachments of our last conversation and reminded him he did not ask me for lease info, in fact he stated it wouldn't be needed until the time of closing. He replied with an estimated typed figure instead of a pre-approval! I couldn't believe this! It's March and had I waited for just his approval ONLY I'd never purchase a home! No thank you, no apology. Just HERE YOU GO. His reply had a tone of "Here, are you satisfied now?" I very RARELY complain about people personally unless I'm truly appalled by their actions. Overall I find Jeff's behavior very disgusting as a SENIOR real estate loan officer. I shudder to think how many people he has treated this way. It troubles me to think they've just dismissed his approach as just being an "A$$%@!*" instead of expressing to corporate that it's not tolerated. I'm disappointed in ONCU for directing customers to one main person who can secure a loan and not checking up on him/her or their clients to make sure they acting in a respectful manner. I'm also annoyed at the commercial jingle I hear on the TV now. I feel like "OUR ONE FOCUS IS YOU." is a lie and it's true that one apple can spoil the bunch. It is not my intention to get anyone fired, but to utilize what Yelp is truly for. I sincerely hope Mr. Rosenblatt is counseled, his behavior is monitored and that it is stressed within the department that professionalism, communication, follow up, and attitude is key when conducting business and that no matter what level of authority you may have it never hurts to be re-trained.
