  • I planned a business dinner for out team in the Charlotte area and chose The King's Kitchen because of the great reviews and their mission to feed the hungry in the community. Because of the size of our group - they required that we preset our menu and adjust the time of our event so our experience would be optimal. When we walked in, the expansive bar area was just starting to fill up with dinner patrons. They serve only beer and wine but the menus for both were varied and extensive enough to please everyone. Our server was friendly and helpful - it took awhile to get things rolling, like our drink and app order, but once we did, the pace was ok. The menu options included chicken, pot roast, vegetarian risotto and salmon. I don't believe anyone ordered the risotto and I only heard feedback about the salmon (which was dry for a few that ordered it). I had the pot roast which was a nice sized portion but was slightly chewy. Everyone who had the fried chicken seemed to be pleased with their choice. The sides were the highlight of the evening - we chose butter beans, mac 'n cheese and green beans. The mac 'n cheese was slightly under seasoned for my taste but the pasta was cooked to perfection and the cheese was creamy in the center and appropriately crusty on the top. I thought the butter beans were amazing and the green beans while a bit overcooked, were full of flavor. We tried a few of the desserts - banana pudding and angel food cake to name a few. All were tasty and came in generous portions. Overall, everyone enjoyed the meal and the service. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend The King's Kitchen but I'd probably try another dining spot in the Uptown area before I'd venture back.
