| - Very poorly run Hertz outlet. Normally Hertz is great but I'll never use them in Calgary again. I had multiple bad experiences in a three week period.
1) Having a #1 Gold was meaningless. You stand in a tiny booth in the parking garage waiting in a long line while the single counter person goes through the entire rental process with each customer. #1 is supposed to be a shortcut, but not here. This is consistent - always long waits in a tiny office.
2) The car they gave me had a cig lighter adapter that didn't work. I use my own GPS and therefore had to exchange the car. This is basic maintenance, they should check this. The counter person said it was probably a fuse. So fix it!
3) The car I had reserved wasn't available. They offered me a smaller car with a discount so I tried it. I couldn't fit into the car (6'3" person) so I went back to the office. There was another customer in the same boat - he was tall too. So we both needed cars we could fit into. All they had were SUVs. The counter person seemed lost as to what to do.
We suggested she check at the offsite lot if they had any other cars. So she called and told the lot person they were out of cars, could they bring up some new ones when they had a chance. When they had a chance? We are waiting here! I said I was going to another agency, and only then did she reluctantly give me one of the SUVs. This is standard practice, folks! When you're out of the car the customer reserved, you give them what you have without making them wait. And even better, how about paying better attention to your inventory and keeping the parking lot full to meet your reservation demand. This is basic stuff.
4) When I returned, the person checking in cars had a failure with his handheld receipt printer. He swapped multiple batteries but it wouldn't work. I followed him into the office to get a receipt printed from the office printer. As we walked into the office he greeted his co-worker in the office and was greeted back with a snide remark. Seriously people, if you have a bad attitude, at least make an effort to keep it away from the customers.
Poor customer service all around. I would suggest this office has a management issue. As for me, bye bye Hertz Calgary.
