| - This past Tuesday, I woke up to a crabby princess who appeared to be getting under the weather. Luckily, I was going to be able to spend the entire day with her & keep an eye on her temperature. All I had to do was bring in a refill prescription for 3 pills (long story involving my horrible health insurance) to the Walgreens location that I've frequented exclusively, several times a month, for the past year or so. Foolishly Assuming there was no possible harm in asking the pharmacist if he could expedite my tiny order, say, by quietly bumping me to the front of the line, because I didn't want to wait 1 to 2 hours, surrounded by sick people, when I wanted to be in & out, race back home to care for my girl & keep her healthy. If he'd said no, I would have accepted the decision, sucked it up & waited like I've done a zillion times before. That was the worse case scenario, or so I thought.
Before uttering 5 words to the visibly annoyed, African pharmacist, never completed my first sentence even, forget asking for any favors, before he started loudly shouting at me about things that had nothing to do with me. Shocked, confused & horrified by his completely uncalled for treatment, I tried to reason with him, as he was clearly mistaken & making false accusations, for all to hear, as he wouldn't stop shouting at me, but to no avail. I don't mean to offend my African brothers & sisters, but this pharmacist went full Shaka Zulu Warrior on me, seriously, I saw hatred in his eyes & would have ran screaming out of the store if I saw anything spear-like in his hand. It was so horrible & upsetting & I'm a pretty tough cookie overall.
OK, I could go on & on (& have) but I'll wrap this up. After being escorted out, empty handed, by management, who promised I wasn't being kicked out, although, I actually was being kicked out, while he made empty promises of getting to the bottom of things once his pharmacist calmed down enough to explain them (seriously, if I'd shouted at him like he shouted at me, I'd been banned &/ arrested, it's really such an unfair double standards these days). Despite my telling him that I never actually made the request that had sent his pharmacist into an hysterical & near murderous rage & had also resulted in my ejection from his store, he continued to imply that I did something wrong to set him off, essentially blaming me for my own attack & then wished me better luck somewhere else, although he wasn't refusing me service or kicking me out.
I didn't have high expectations for the managers supposed follow through with his out of control pharmacist. It's been 3 days with no sign of any apology, so I've accepted that Walgreens has apparently empowered its pharmacists to behave in whatever unreasonable manner they find fit & to say whatever horrible thing they want to customers, no matter how unwarranted, absurd, unethical, &/or hurtful, as there's obviously no fear of reprisal or corrections from the store's management. Especially when the management would much rather ignore customer mistreatment at the back of the store, giving pharmaceutical tyrants complete control & free reign to treat customers however they feel fit, right or wrong, making matters far worse & creating an almost wild west in the back of the store where apparently the power to manage an entire store is no longer possible. Regardless, I'll go elsewhere from now on.
