| - I can't say I'm a fan.
It's in a run down neighborhood, but that didn't bother me. Many good restaurants are. Maybe it was the two people sharing a tiny "cigarette", out front, in broad daylight. One of them looked like a cook. They certainly seemed cheerful!
The inside was kind of dark, dingy and run down. Come on. Replace the burnt out bulbs! I wanted authentic. Gee, the flies were a nice touch.
There was some loud, obnoxious kid bothering the other customers. Maybe it's a cultural thing, but my young son wasn't interested in making a new bestie today.
The sambusas were OK, but a bit overdone. The crispy outside tasted a bit burnt.
I had the vegetable platter. I couldn't tell if the individual sections were supposed to be warm or cold. I don't think they did either, since I kept getting warm and cold pockets within the same bite.
I wasn't a fan of the spongy bread. It seemed like thin, cold pancakes.
And I know it was just me, but I wasn't a fan of the overall spices. I much prefer Indian, anything Asian, Mediterranean, etc.
Halfway through my meal, they fired up some incense, a hookah or something. The place filled up with smoke. I couldn't breathe, so I just paid up and left.
Maybe if I try a different place, or order something different, I might like Ethiopian food at some point. But for now, I think I'll pass.
