| - The concept of this salon is one of mutual benefit - a new hairstylist is given the opportunity to work and learn, while the client is given a discounted haircut. A basic cut with a "new talent" stylist is $27.50 before tax and tip. My cuts (shampoo, cut, style) have averaged about 1.5 hours. Basically, at several points, your hairstylist will consult his/her educator who will give him/her tips and help with the cut.
I've been coming here for years. As someone very open to new styles and with no attachment to her hair, I can dig this place. I don't have a particular hairstylist that I go to; I just go whenever there's an available time slot. I've had amazing stylists who knew what they were doing and gave me great cuts (shoutout Domenic and Zenia). I've also had people who seemed to not really care and/or know what they were doing (shoutout... nevermind).
Now that I have a pixie cut, I hesitate to come to this location, because, frankly, many inexperienced stylists don't know how to deal with it. If you're getting a basic cut and you're not super picky, I would definitely recommend this place to you.
Good to know: I've only gotten a cut done here, but they offer a bunch of other hair and beauty services.
Bone-picking time: The last two times I've been, their debit/credit machine was down, forcing me to use a random ATM and thus pay user fees. Both times, the receptionists offered a lame apology. Gee, thanks, but saying sorry doesn't take care of my user fees, now does it. To me, it's a given that they should have offered to take the fee off my bill. Basically, make sure you have cash and change for the tip before you go!
