| - Starting off this is a typical US Prime Beef cooked with a Salamander steakhouse, If you been to Ruth Chris or Mortons in other cities, you know the drill here.
This is probably one of the best nice dining spots in downtown.
Starting off, on a busy Friday night with no reservations we were seated in about 40 minutes, which isn't bad considering we had no reservations. Instead of going to the in house bar to wait, we went to the casino cocktail lounge around the the corner and watched the shark tank and sports updates until we were called by the hostess for our seats.
The venue is dark, classic steak house, it was busy, but it was also very private, as someone stated before, there are many restaurants which has a fishbowl effect with people gawking at you while dining, its not the case here. I've seen a few local celebrities here while dining. A good spot if you want to keep a low profile.
The service was top notch. Our drinks were refreshed regularly, the staff was friendly and the courses were served in a timely fashion.
Pricing is appropriate for a US prime steakhouse with market prices for beef and seafood. We never had any of the seafood so the review is focusing on the steak.
Started off with cocktails and the bread roll which was very nice, soft and warm with whipped butter and a crispy crust.
Followed that up with a Cesar salad and chili, the salad was ok, with a nice balance between tart and creamy. The chef special soup for that day was a prime beef chili which was horrible. They added sugar and what seamed to be off the shelf chili powder.. it wasn't much better than the stuff you get out of the can which is really unfortunate.
The main entrees were cooked properly, nice well marbled beef with our table having steaks cooked from rare to medium, it has the buttery flavor you often see with the Salamander prepared steaks.
The sides we had was Brussels sprouts, the potatoes au gratin, mash potatoes, asparagus and creamed spinach. All were excellent speaking from a standpoint that I hate brussel sprouts generally. The au gratin potatoes was loaded with cheese so expect a fair bit of grease.
We skipped dessert.
It's a nice option to have in downtown vegas, I'll be back again.
