| - I am updating my review because most staff I have interacted with besides Dr. Sorenson did not show any care to my animals medical issues. As a rescue animal, he has extreme anxiety. He also is very owner protective, likely because he is thankful from the situation I rescued him from.
His chart has anxiety and owner protection alllllll over it, including the medication he takes. He is a big dog and for some reason it makes people want to hug him and grab his face... in public AND the vet techs. Today they decided my vet visit that was over $100 didn't even need a room or a chance to speak with a vet. I was in the lobby 40 minutes, my dog was with me about 30 of those minutes. A lobby with people constantly coming in and out with animals, and again, people wanting to grab my dogs face. Then kids walked in, and kids don't know limits and that's not the kid's fault. I tried being polite and letting it go, but once the kids walked in I had to ask if they wanted to pay the legal fees is someone got hurt before they took me seriously.
I heard on the phone the were short a doctor and likely short a room. Totally get it, things happen. You could tell me and I would have offered to go sit in the car or put a muzzle on him. Nope, nada. Not even a simple apology after I reminded them of his anxiety and that leaving us in the waiting room 40 minutes was asking for a disasters.
It's pathetic I have to bring this up every time, but then say "his mouth is his only way of protecting himself and me. If you try to grab his only line of defense instantly, what do you think will happen". Who's the professional here?
I literally have to ask techs every time: "can you please let him smell you and give him longer than two seconds before you start manhandling him". Every. Single. Time. He knows Dr. Sorenson, she can hug him all she wants...that's not an open invitation to the world.
If two strangers walked into a room with you and someone you felt the need to protect, and immediately bear hugged you so you couldn't move or defend yourself or the person you need to protect, how would you feel?
I drive quite a ways for my dog to see someone who understands his issues, and she has gained his trust. If my dog can't even see her during these visits, I may as well go to another vet and just muzzle him.
I asked for a call from Dr. Sorenson since they were obviously busy. Thought that polite, as I could have said I'll sit here and wait until she has time. The receptionist acted like I asked for her personal cell phone number. Yes, they are gate keepers. However, if the paperwork says a doctors name, I believe I should be able to speak with them. I'd bet the message never got passed on before I'd bet the doctor just decided not to call.
Dr. Sorenson, please open your own practice. Pleaseeeeeeeeeeeee.
