A wee bit disappointed with this place.
I was told as soon as I checked in the hotel was undergoing remodeling and renovation, no problem I get it. Needs to be done.
What I wasn't ready for was the current condition the hotel was in. In short, very tired. Hallways with worn dirty filthy rugs, wallpaper peeling and doors with old looking worn locks and number plates. The rooms weren't much better. Tired and outdated furniture with a rug that I'm not sure had never been steam cleaned. Lamps with dusty shades and still had incandescent bulbs! Incandescent bulbs? No USB ports anywhere.
Iron was fairly new but the ironing board had 'crusty' flakes on it.
Bathroom was pretty clean but old fixtures.
Friendly staff, typical HIE breakfast, the location was ok, (two blocks sound of Queen St) and an easy walk to several eating places....
Was anything really bad with the place? No, not really. The wall unit heater/fan didn't work and it was quickly fixed while I was out.
So, the questions is; why let a major chain in a major city have a location get to this bad of shape before it gets an update? I'll be asking HI the same.
