  • There were a lot of good ideas in developing the concept for this hotel, but the execution just does not come off well in a number of areas. First the good: There are large, comfortable beds with enough room around them to move around. The same is true with the shower, toilet, and vanity areas. There is a big TV with lots of inputs you can use for portable devices. Now the not so good: The room is shaped like a "U" with the shower and toilet on the top of one end of the "U," the vanity below, and the bedroom area on the other half of the "U." There is no door except to separate the toilet and shower from the vanity area. The problem is there are only two light switches, so if you turn on the light for the bathroom half, it lights up a lot of the bedroom half. (The switches on the wall were reversed from where you would expect too, so turning on the bedroom light at night was 50/50.) The room as a typical noisy heat/AC unit as well, but at least has a thermostat. (When will these units ever go away?) Best to bring ear plugs and a sleep mask. As far as the lobby checking area, there was one person at the desk. This was also the place where you could pay for some self-service food selections. This is pretty bad situation for both the desk employee and the guests. I ended up paying for the juice I pulled out of a cooler at the bar since the check-in line was busy. The bar, lobby, and pool table area are nice and a lot of guests were socializing in the evening. Also, you can pay a little extra on the room rate and get parking for a week when you travel out. I would recommend the hotel for singles or couples, but while the room is very roomy and a family could fit, watch out for the lighting situation.
