| - So a little update for everyone wanting to move to this place. DO NOT MOVE HERE. awful place to live. We recently moved into a bigger updated apartment in October and ever since then we've run into nothing but issues. I'll just go down the line.
First, the office can never keep the same few people for more than a month. Every time I call or go in there is ALWAYS someone different and every person I talk to is so rude to me. No one is ever welcoming and and they always act as if everything is a big task for them.
Second, this place makes you feel FAR from safe. Cops, fire trucks, crime investigators, the whole nine yards are constantly showing up. I get it, there's crime everywhere you live, but the office never lets you know what happened the next day which I don't appreciate. when there are investigators and 8 cop cars outside taking pictures everywhere near your apartment and wouldn't you want to know what happened? Don't ever count on the gates ever actually being secure and closed because 99.9 percent of the time the gate breaks and stay open for days/weeks at a time. There were 2 solid weeks where there were NO LIGHTS AT ALL in the parking lot, on the sidewalk, in the halls to your apartment, and the WORST is the staircase. I get so afraid to walk to my apartment at night because I literally cannot see where I'm going so my fiancé has to meet me down stairs and walk with me. I should NOT have to do that. Security is a HUGE deal to me since my fiancé goes out of town every once in awhile, and now I get so scared to be here by myself my brother or sister has to stay with me while he's out of town.
Third, EVERYTHING In my apartment has either fallen apart or broke down and it's funny because you would expect everything to be pretty darn perfect for being COMPLETELY renovated. All the doors end up coming off the hinges, my cabinet completely came off, and the best part, our air conditioning has went out 5 SEPARATE TIMES. Each time it's happened, on site maintenance comes to take a look and says there's nothing they can do at the moment so they give me a portable ac unit. They then come to "fix it" the next day and they literally do nothing but put a band aid on the problems and it goes out again a week later. After The 4th time it went out, I had no patience with maintenance or the office staff. I have animals, I cannot lock them in one room with no air conditioning and I know what your thinking, "just open the windows." I'd love to except I HAVE NO SCREENS and I've told this to the office staff every time our ac has went out, and still no screens! it's extremely important to me that maintenance doesn't just walk in because I will not lock my animals up in one room ESPECIALLY with no air and if I leave them out and they walk in unannounced, my animals will run out. I tried to let the office know but no one can EVER be bothered to answer the phone and when I leave a voicemail no one EVER gets back to me. At this point our air was out all weekend and I tried calling all day that Monday to see if they can come when my fiancé came home at 2 because He would only be there till 4:15. Again no one answered. Finally I got a hold of someone and the lady was so rude to me and said they were doing other people's ac. THATS GREAT. Why didn't you answer when I called at 9:15 so they can come fix mine first or at least figure out a time that works best for me since now my time is being wasted staying home all day?? And why didn't anyone get back to me about the voicemails I left? After she could clearly hear that I was angry, she sent someone over an hour and a half later to again put a band aid on the problem. Then a week later, our ac went out for the 5th time. After so many times of coming in and out of our apartment, the maintenance guy finally replaced the ac motor.
If we were given the chance to move out tomorrow, we would take it in a HEARTBEAT. Awful place to live. The people are rude, office staff are terrible, and the area is not safe. We do not plan to renew our lease and we are so excited to get out of this place! I don't know what the heck happened when the switched companies, but Shelton-cook properties are by far the worst I've seen. RUN AND FIND SOMETHING ELSE before your stuck like we are. I promise you can find something much better!
