| - I have visited Enso for dinner on a few different occasions in the past, and my experience has ultimately remained about the same - it's nothing special. The restaurant itself is dimly lit with trendy décor and a fancy bar area. It is an upscale sushi/Asian bistro so it can get pricey quickly, with or without drinks. Portion size is relatively normal and expected; from what I've ordered in the past, it is neither shockingly large or small.
If you know me, I'm a huge fan of sushi, which is why I am disappointed by Enso's specialty roll menu. I found that the majority of the specialty rolls contain tempura, spicy mayo, cream cheese, or glazes/sauces - which is fine, if that is the type of sushi you are looking for. Personally, I typically prefer rolls with raw fish and whole ingredients/toppings. On my most recent visit, I ordered a yellowtail scallion roll and spicy tuna roll. My colleague and I split the kalbi lettuce wraps and she ordered the scallops entrée. The kalbi lettuce wraps were my favorite part, but for $19 I would've thought there would have been more than just four lettuce wraps. Unfortunately, I was disappointed with my rolls - they were pretty small and the brown rice wasn't very sticky. It was crumbling off each of my pieces so by the end I was practically eating a bit of fish wrapped in seaweed with a few grains of rice that clung on.
While Enso boasts a large overall menu, I prefer Room 112 when I'm in the mood for sushi in uptown. Next time I dine in, I will probably opt for an entrée dish instead - even though they are pricey, they look better than the sushi.
