Was having a major pie craving and was pleased to find out there was a Pie Shack a 5 minute drive from my place. When it comes to pie, I am usually more disappointed then amazed: I've purchased my share from the farm store places around Milton and Georgetown boasting amazing pie and just find them to be on par with the average pie from Loblaws. So when I saw that Pie Shack pies were $25 a pop, I figured it would either be really amazing or a massive rip.
I purchased the strawberry rhubarb, always a safe bet. Crust was my favourite thing about the pie: thick, buttery, and flaky all around. Filling was thick but not soupy, sweet and tart but not sour. Normally you can make any pie tasty by stuffing it in a bowl, heating it up, and putting a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top: this pie requires 0 frills of that sort. It really stands on its own!
Interior of the cafe is lovely and retro, I didn't eat in but it looks like a great place to bring a book or a friend and just chill. Service was really friendly and helpful.
