| - The upstairs portion of Sara's Total Spa looks like your everyday professional salon. The waxing area, however, is located in the basement. And it's not pretty. Basically there is one large, ramshackle room with extremely low ceilings that's been built into the basement. The room is divided into two smaller ones by a thick red curtain running through the center.
You can see through the cracks in the curtain. So if you're the kind of person who enjoys privacy, you won't like this.
The service was really disappointing. The women aren't welcoming, which usually wouldn't bother me... but if I'm going to strip in front of someone I'd kind of like them to at least be nice to me. The whole experience was extremely awkward, and any discourse I had with the lady consisted of her grunting instructions at me.
The wax itself was extremely mediocre. Hair left over, sticky residue everywhere. The lady doing my legs dropped the wax roller on me, and used the wax when it was way too hot. Also, beware of the bikini. They don't ask you how much you want off, they sort of just go for it. Based on the vehemence with which my nether regions were attacked, I'd say that particular esthetician has some deep, personal grievance against body hair.
Honestly, unless you're just popping in because it's nearby and convenient to get to, I wouldn't go to Sara's Total Spa. I was uncomfortable from the moment I walked in, and the wax wasn't worth the $60 I paid for it. I won't be going back.
